Ingredients
1 medium head red cabbage
2-3 tart apples
1 medium onion
1 1/2 C. water
1 C. cider vinegar
1/2 C. sugar
1 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper corns
1/2 t. allspice
2 cloves
1 T. butter
1 T. cornstarch
Preparation
Slice cabbage, apples, and onion and toss in 3 qt. saucepan. Add water, vinegar, sugar, butter, and salt. Place spices in cheesecloth and add to pan. Simmer for 1 hr., covered. Mix cornstarch with 1 T. water, then add to pan and bring to a boil and stir until thickened.
