Ingredients
1 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 cup plus 2 Tbs packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 Tbs finely grated ginger
1 garlic clove, minced
8 chicken drumsticks, skin on
coarse salt
Preparation
bring wine, sugar soy sauce, ginger, and garlic to a boil in a saucepan. reduce heat, simmer until mixture has honey consistency, 35 to 40 minutes. let cool.
using sharp knife, make 3 diagonal slashes through skin and flesh on both side of each drumstick.
preheat grill to med-low. place drumsticks on grill and brush with sauce. close cover and grill 4 min. flip chicken and brush w/sauce. continue to cook, brushing and flipping every 4-5 min, until cooked through, about 20 min total. season w/salt.
