Ingredients
1 & 1/2kg chicken with bones
1 tub of low fat natural yogurt
1 red onion chopped
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
3/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/8 of a tsp red chili powder
salt to taste
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
A large bunch of cilantro roughly chopped
1 green chili - split and seeds remove
Preparation
- Mix the ginger, garlic, turmeric powder, red chili powder with the yogurt and pour over the chicken.
- Leave the chicken and marinade in the fridge for 2 hours.
- Chop the onion.
- Heat oil in a deep saucepan.
- Add the chopped onions and lightly sauté till they look translucent.
- Add the chicken and the yogurt marinade and mix well.
- Cover and cook on low heat for 25 mins or until the liquid separates. Mix occasionally.
- Add the salt, lemon juice, cilantro and green chili and cook on a very low flame for about 5 minutes. Serve immediately with rice or just have it on its own. Its deliciously light and full of flavor.
