Ingredients

1 1/2 - 2 lbs Chicken or Beef

Flour, Salt, & Pepper

1/4 cup Vegetable Oil

1 Medium Onion, Chopped

1 quart Canned Stock or Water

Cubed potatoes, carrots, frozen peas, corn, etc.

Preparation

Cut beef or chicken into 1 to 2" chunks, toss in a mixture of flour, salt, and pepper – shake off excess

In a deep pot, heat 1/4 cup Vegetable oil on medium/high heat. Toss in meat and onion to brown.

Stir occasionally, just to brown the outside

When meat is brown, pour in enough water or stock to cover the meat. Stir up any brown bits from bottom of pot.

Simmer for about 1 hour. Add vegetables and cook until vegetables are tender.

Add more liquid if you want dumplings.
