Ingredients
1/2 cup steel cut oats
1/2 cup toasted steel cut oats
2 cups water
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup heavy cream or half and half or milk
Pear Compote
1 Tbls butter
1 tsp toasted and crushed coriander or ground
1 1/2 cups diced pears
1 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup tart dried cherries or craisins
3/4 cup granulated sugar
finely chopped hazel nuts
Preparation
Bring water and oats to a boil. Add salt and cream, reduce heat, simmer for 20 minutes
Melt butter in frying pan, stir in pears (or apples), cinnamon, sugar, coriander, and craisins until sugar dissolves. Spoon over warm oats and top with nuts.
