Ingredients
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 scant teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 cups pecan halves
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350. Butter heavy large baking sheet. Combine first 4 ingredients in heavy small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Boil 2 minutes. Add pecans and stir until pecans are coated with mixture, about 1 minute. Transfer to prepared baking sheet, spreading evenly. Bake until just beginning to brown, about 13 minutes. Transfer to cookie sheet lined with waxed paper and separate with fork.
