Ingredients
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 cups chopped tomatoes
1 6 ounce can tomato paste
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
pinch of black pepper
Preparation
Heat oil and cook onion and add garlic. Cook for 1 - 2 minutes. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf before serving. Can be run through a sieve.
