Ingredients

Sauce

2 tsp olive oil

2 med onions

2 lg cloves garlic pressed

2 clumps parsley snipped

2-3 lg T fresh basil

2 large cans tomato puree

1 small can tomato sauce

3 lg T parmesan cheese

pinch black pepper

garlic powder

onion powder to taste

mild italian sausage links

Meatballs

salt & pepper

1/2 cup parmesan or asiago cheese

garlic powder

onion powder

1 egg

1 stalk parsley snipped

1/4 cup italian bread crumbs

pinch oregano

1 lb 95% ground beef

1 lb 80% ground beef

Preparation

Saute onions and garlic in olive oil in large stock pot. Add puree, basil, sauce, cheese and black pepper and stir. Shake enough garlic powder and onion powder to cover sauce. Cut italian sausage links in half and place in sauce. Combine ingredients for meatballs in another bowl and mix together. Form into balls and place in sauce. Bring sauce to a simmer and cook for 4-8 hours or until sauce is thickened. Season with salt if needed. Serve over penne pasta with bread.
