Ingredients
3 pound chicken (whole bird w/head)
1/2 cup light soy sauce
3 tablespoon dark soy sauce (for color)
1/4 cup rice wine
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon five spice powder
3 tablespoon brown sugar
2 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon ginger
2 anise star
Preparation
- Put all ingredients in pot and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat to medium and add the chicken. Cook covered for 15 minutes.
- Flip the chicken and cook covered for another 15 minutes
- Skim the fat and retain the remaining mixture in the pot. This is your sauce!
